FORMS IN NATURE

COPENHAGEN

THE STUDIO

Forms in Nature is a Copenhagen-based art and design studio founded by artist Pio Diaz and architect Magnus Gabrielsen, exploring the intersection of art and design with a passion for creating distinctive lighting pieces.

PIO DIAZ

The artist behind the Grapes lamp, Pio Diaz (Argentina) had his breakthrough together with his former wife Thyra Hilden in 2004 with a number of large-scale installations around Europe. The installations simulated burning down some of Europe’s most prominent buildings and institutions.

The work gained global acclaim, drawing over a million on-site spectators and reaching more than 500 million viewers through outlets like CNN, BBC and China News. Installations were shown at The Colosseum in Rome, The Louvre Museum, ARoS in Aarhus and Frankfurt Cathedral.

Pio later had his breakthrough as a lighting designer with the piece Forms in Nature, where simple shifts in brightness transform a space, casting oversized shadows across walls and ceilings.
